“V’haElokim nisah es Avraham — Elokim tested Avraham” (Beraishis 22:1).
What does nisah mean? It comes from the word nes. Nes means something that’s high and elevated. Hashem gave Avraham opportunities to become great. When other people are faced with ordeals, they cringe, they back out and fail, and the greatness within them shrinks and disappears.
